Man charged with capital murder in Scott Co. shooting death | Crime
SCOTT COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee says an arrest has been made in the murder of a Scott County man last week.
Twenty-year-old Cadarrio Dewayne Patrick of Forest has been charged with capital murder in the shooting death of 56-year-old George Bates.
Scott County Coroner Joe Bradford said last week, Bates was murdered the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 9, during what is believed to be a robbery.
Bradford says family members found Bates shot to death in a mobile home he was renovating on Highway 21 between Sebastopol and Forest.
Family members had not heard from Bates since Tuesday night and went to check on him around dawn Wednesday morning. That’s when they found him shot in the neck.
The coroner says Bates' wallet was missing.
Patrick was denied bond Tuesday. He is being held in the Scott County detention center. His case will go before the Scott County Grand Jury in January, says Lee.
